The poster presentation included a description and examination of a manufacturing approach for fiber reinforced polybenzoxazine in presence of fire retardant additives. Polybenzoxazine with phosphorous based organic fire retardant additive were formulated and used as matrix for basalt woven as reinforcement. The lightweight materials show high potential to fulfill hazard levels 2 and 3 for external and internal application and are therefore particularly suitable for high-end application in the railway industry.
The shared Mat4Rail outcomes and results were met with interest and feedback received was positive. The poster presented by Nick was nominated by the scientific committee for the best poster prize and won 3rd place of the approximately 72 posters presented on improving fire safety of polymeric materials. We would like to congratulate Nick, Anna and all partners involved in the research development in this field and on the positive outcome.” |
